Shannon Ferguson “Selkies” (Single/EA0019 / 2021) An atmospheric abstraction that recalls the liquid guitar melodies that featured prominently as his aural signature (and would not be out of place in his Longwave work), “Selkies” comes wrapped in baritone guitars, distant home-made delays, illusory synths, and with a propulsive, driving backing rhythm that places it firmly between ambience and anthem. Modern Nations “Erase the Sun” (Single/EA0018 / 2020) The latest single reflects a more convulsive ‘rock’ side of Modern Nations with a heavy backbeat, guitars brushing up against the heavens and deadpan vocals by Jodynl with backing support by previous vocal collaborator Denitia and a heavy dose of 1980s NYC vibes. Modern Nations "Shut Down" (Single/ EA0016 / 2020). Modern Nations return to the Ephemeral Arts fold with the somehow prescient “Shut Down”. Staccato electro and guest vocals from NYC singer Denitia Odigie provide an uneasy soundtrack of the times with an infectious dose of minimal warm wave pop.
